Updates, and on writing

I haven't done any journal updates in a long time - hello thar.
Christmas was lovely, just my immediate family + my brother's fiance, and I love my gifts. I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new cooling pad for my laptop. It's supposed to get here on the fifth
"On Writing" by Stephen King was from my brother, and it was awesome. I'll probably reread it sometime because I rocketed through it; it made me so excited to write, and there was so much good advice and encouragement in there. Not so much because was a big book-length pep talk (it wasn't, really) but because the things King wrote I took as encouraging. The way he describes his process, it sounds a lot like mine, or at least how I feel most natural writing. (I've already written a little of a recent idea I have percolating in my brain, and I'm stoked about it 
)
I'm generally trying to do more with my life, take more action, "get out there" as much as I can. I want to make friends and experience things and have fun. I want to read more and write more and do more, and I think I'm taking a successful few first steps

Updates n Stuff

Jay Leno's monologues are sort of annoying me lately; his humor is often based on irritating, outdated gender stereotypes, misinformation, and generally being old - he definitely acts older than I remembered last time I watched the Tonight Show.
...My day was awesome, though xD I feel very active. Things have been really great for me lately. I have more energy, I feel up for taking on more projects and things - and hopefully that will include a job in the near future! I continue to search for employment.
NEIGHBOR CHILD: "What're you doing?"
ME: "Washing my friend's car!" *washwashwash*
CHILD: "Why're you washing your friend's car?"
ME: "Because I need money for school."
CHILD: "Why do you need money for school?"
ME: "Because college is expensive."
CHILD: "So you're broke?"
ME: "Well, sorta -"
CHILD: "So you're poor?"
ME: "Yeah, I guess."
CHILD: "That's sad."
In the way of art: I've been writing lately, which feels awesome; I'm not sure what it's about, but my brain is telling me to write it now and question later, so that's what I'm doing xP And Beverly and I are going to go to this empty old barn in the bottoms and take funky photos tomorrow, so maybe I'll have stuff to submit soon. Yayness!
PS: I'm so excited for season 5 of Doctor Who!

Christmas loot ^^

Seriously good haul this year - I'm utterly spoiled ^^
From my mom and dad, I got an old Nintendo 64 and Mario Kart to go with it, a complete collection of Sherlock Holmes, gloves, slippers, and Becoming Jane . My brother got me two more games for the Nintendo and my sister got me this cute book bag with peace signs on it. From my aunt and uncle, Gijs and Janny, I received a Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog 2010 calendar, a book of kakuro puzzles, and two nice dark art pencils (one 6B and one 9B). Beverly got me two books of my choice from Barnes and Noble, Pride and Prejudice and a random bodice ripper from the romance section, and my grandparents gave me chocolate. Whooh.
I have a lot of extremely generous people in my life! ^^
Looking forward to using/wearing/reading/eating all my awesome Christmas presents, and to visiting Harold, Liz, and Elyse in a few days!
